Patrick Williams – Estate Planner

How it started

I started Patrick D Williams Estate Planners because I saw too many families left with uncertainty and unnecessary stress after a loved one passed away. I wanted to make estate planning straightforward, affordable, and human.

With over 20 years of experience in accountancy and financial planning, I understand the importance of getting the details right. But more than that, I know that talking about Wills and Powers of Attorney isn't easy. I take time to listen, explain everything in plain English, and make sure you feel confident about the decisions you make.

I cover London, Birmingham, Nottingham, Manchester, Bristol, and Leeds – and I offer home visits if that's easier for you.

The Journey Here

My career began quietly, behind a desk in a modest office, helping small business owners make sense of their accounts. For two decades as a self-employed certified public accountant, I had the privilege of sitting across from hard-working people — entrepreneurs, tradespeople, family businesses — and helping them navigate the tax and financial landscape with confidence.

Over time, the conversations deepened. Clients began asking questions I could not answer: about pensions, savings vehicles, investment strategies, and the mechanics of trusts. These were not abstract curiosities — they were the practical, pressing concerns of people building lives and wanting to protect them. I realised that to serve them properly, I needed to expand my own expertise.

Returning to study while running a full-time practice was — candidly — a struggle. Years of examinations, late nights, and the humbling experience of being a student again. But the result was worth every hour: I am now a Chartered Financial Adviser, the highest standard in the profession, and a specialist estate planner who can answer those questions that once sat beyond my reach.

Today, my practice is built on a single conviction: that your legacy — the home you worked for, the savings you accumulated, the future you envisioned for your children — deserves to be shielded from the forces that threaten it. Care home fees. Creditor claims. The financial fallout of divorce, second marriages, and blended families. These are not distant risks; they are the realities that keep people awake at night. My role is to address them, methodically and completely, so that your beneficiaries receive what you intended — not what circumstance leaves behind.
